In the end of 1990s and beginning of 2000s there were many projects experimenting in the new media culture realm, a term that encompass digital technologies, network activism, art & technologies, to name a few. Slovakia with several active initiatives also took part in the wider European media culture and activist scene of that time. In the meantime social media and the Internet in general, transformed itself from the field of experimental culture to the ontology of everyday life.
What are the fundamental differences between digital media experience 2 decades ago and today? How and did Slovak new media arts scene have been incorporated in Slovak cultural institutions, galleries, museums, universities, schools? What is the situation today?
These and other issues will be discussed in online debate with:
Dušan Barok
Dealing with creation, theory and software. In the past he contributed to medialab Burundi, interdisciplinary academy Summer workshops and festival of network culture Multiplace. At the moment he is editing the Monoskop.org platform and finishing his PhD studies at the Universiteit van Amsterdam.
András Cséfalvay
Visual artist, studied painting and mathematics. Residencies in New York, Jerusalem, Budapest, Vienna and Prague. He’s teaching intermedia. Cséfalvay has received the Oskár Čepan Award and Tatrabanka Foundation for young artists. His interest lies in the relationship of culture and technologies.
Slávo Krekovič
Editor in chief of cultural magazine 34.sk, musicologist, musician, curator of contemporary music programs and new media art in A4 - space for contemporary culture.
Mária Rišková
Director of Slovak design center, co-founder of Museum of Design and several culture spaces. Organiser of projects from 1999 onwards.

Vo sfére kultúry nových médií - pojmu, ktorý o.i. zahŕňa digitálne technológie, sieťový aktivizmus, umenie a technológiu, prebiehalo na prelome deväťdesiatych a nultých rokov množstvo experimentálnych projektov. Slovensko v tom čase bolo tiež súčasťou širokospektrálnej európskej scény mediálnej kultúry a aktivizmu s viacerými aktívnymi iniciatívami. Medzičasom sa sociálne médiá a všeobecne internet transformovali z priestoru experimentálnej kultúry na ontológiu každodenného života. Ako veľmi sú zásadné rozdiely medzi skúsenosťou digitálnych médií spred dvoch desaťročí a dnes?
Bola slovenská scéna mediálneho umenia začlenená do slovenských kultúrnych inštitúcií, galérií, múzeí, univerzít, škôl a ak sa tak stalo, akým spôsobom? V akej situácii sa nachádzame dnes?

Venuje tvorbe, teórii a softvéru. V minulosti sa podieľal na medialabe Burundi, medziodborovej akadémii Letné dielne a festivale sieťovej kultúry Multiplace. Momentálne je redaktorom platformy Monoskop.org a dokončuje doktorát na Amsterdamskej univerzite.
András Cséfalvay
Vizuálny umelec, ktorý študoval maľbu aj matematiku. Absolvoval stáže v New Yorku, Jeruzaleme, Budapešti, Viedni, Prahe. Vyučuje intermédiá. Získal cenu Oskára Čepana aj Nadácie Tatrabanky pre mladých umelcov. Venuje sa vzťahu kultúry a technológií.
